Mid Yell JHS

Mid Yell JHS is a non-denominational school providing education for the island of Yell's children from 3 to 16.

The school roll is presently 95 pupils.

Our primary department is divided into 2 classes:

• Lower Primary (Primary 1 to Primary 4)

• Upper Primary (Primary 5 to Primary 7)

The secondary department has pupils from Secondary 1 to Secondary 4.

• Secondary 1 to Secondary 3 classes study a broad general education.

• Secondary 4 classes study for National qualifications.

Secondary 5 pupils transfer to a Shetland Mainland school.  Pupils can choose to attend Brae High School (travelling in and out of Yell daily) or they can opt for the Anderson High School, in Lerwick (boarding in the Janet Courtney Hostel during the week).
